Mattel Big Wheels – and for a lot less than $3000.
In my humble opinion, street racing doesn’t really show a whole lot of maturity or consideration for the safety of others on the road.
Take it to a sanctioned drag strip – unless you’re afraid of some real competition.

You do realise that street racing is illegal don’t you?

That guy with the first answer is an idiot. If American cars were so great, they wouldn’t be bankrupt now.

To answer your question, just buy a Fox body Mustang. For 3k, you can’t really get a better deal than that.

An E30 BMW. A 325i would be extremely fast with a supercharge and so would a 328i (2.8 liter) I believe they weigh 1800 pounds and that is what makes them so fast. A 325i which is a 2.5 liter is 0-60 in like 6.7 seconds. You could buy one for less than $2000 and then supercharge it or something. They get great mileage also. Another reason why they’re great for racing is because they have a 50/50 weight distribution. Here’s a video of the 325i 0-60. Pretty fast with good pull. I would suggest getting a 328i just because it wouldn’t be much more expensive because they’re old. They old ones are really sick too with a body kit or something.

    Here’s the video:
