No I don’t plan on doing any racing its just that a friend ask me this question and it made me curious, and in the movies you always see 350z, skylines, and rx-7 which by the way are all japanese cars.

Anything made to be a sports car. Don’t customize a four door sedan thinking it has potential. By the way, don’t listen to the movies :/ Too many kids were negatively influenced because movies like Fast and the Furious featured impractical “glamour” cars that weren’t really impressive. Import-wise, go with stuff like the Supra, Fairlady Z, NSX, 3000gt, you get the point: Sports Cars! Domestic cars are my favorite because with a small budget you can have a monster on your hands.

The reason you see cars like the supra and the skyline etc is due to the fact that they offer great tuning ability and across the World are used as street racing cars and also used in drift events as well as track and some in rallies as well as strip drag races so you see these are all round cars.
Potential wise is due to the fact that older models like the skylines and supra’s have detuned engines they already have power figures which are above the book figures you see on paper as they had to be kept below 280bhp but really they ran at around 330bhp but this again was still in a detuned way as true running power on these cars is around 500-600bhp with stock internals and well above with further mods. And what makes these cars popular also is the lack of modifications needed and little money spent to release all this true power.so the cars you see are cars you do see and i see all the time because of these reasons.
You can get smaller cars like the civic etc which are called names now days but they can see some nice power figures in there own right.
American Muscle wise you do see in films also there are plenty of films which feature American Muscle cars, although in many countries these cars are often owned by collectors and not racers and are more polished up versions then racing versions. And due to many countries having such high tax cost on the high the cc of the engine and the high cost of fuel you more often see low cc Japanese cars which have great potential from there low cc engines.
Also numbers iam sure there is not loads of American Muscle cars driving around town, yet there is a good amount of Japanese cars driving around so its what is out there and what would actually be at these events in real life.In my town alone there is 3 evo’s 5 Skyline’s 3 dozen Impreza’s 2 GTO’s
    4 supra’s 1 180sx 4 fto’s 2 350z’s 1 300zx 2 celica gt’s just of the top of my head.
