depends on where you live
if you get caught they take you to jail tracks are for race and much safer
Yes, it doesn’t matter where you go, street racing is illegal and stupid. Don’t do it, and don’t be around your idiot friends when they do it either.
If you want the absolute truth on the answer, check with the local police department or your state law books on-line. You can’t go wrong.
Depends on where you live but you will be arrested, your bike will be impounded, you will lose your license for some time and no one but the assigned risk will insure you.
The track is a much cheaper, and safer option.
Duh, street racing is illegal pretty much anywhere in the U.S. Stupid people who participate in this stupid activity not only are ignorant, but endanger everyone around them. Friend of mine killed his girlfriend years ago doing this, now, years later still has night-mares about the wreck(tire blew, new tires too)he will ALWAYS suffer for his stupidity. I suffer too, I built the engine he used to race. As a result of this, I have never built a hi-performance engine since. Call me what you will, but I lost a cousin to street racing, and wish with all my heart I could relive that era of my life. If you MUST race, go to a RACE TRACK, it is much safer as you must meet certain safety criteria in order to participate, if you cannot, or will not do this, then buy a bicycle, and save a life or two.
Street racing is almost always illegal. The public streets are protected and controlled by ordinances and laws meant to allow pedestrians and other motorists to use them safely.
The few exceptions may come as groups or clubs will get a permit from the municipality for a particular reason. It may be to raise money for an event.
murphys law says bad things will happen.
I used to ride with a group of 50+ sportbikes on friday and saturday nights about midnight. Last May I watched a guy right in front of me (the only one out of more than 50 who wasn’t wearing a helmet) endo over the bars, clip a pickup, and slide (with the bike briefly on his chest) for a couple hundred feet. Needless to say, a month later he was still in a coma and I believe he eventually died.
This is what can happen when you are going 90+mph around 30mph curves, at night, when there is other cars on the road. Not to mention racoons, deer, etc.
ride fast and take chances….but don’t be stupid. And for the record, I haven’t ridden with that group since.
street racing or road racing? there is a difference..
street racing is illegal and extremely dangerous.
road racing is done on a closed race track and many of the hazzards have been removed.
Any type of speed contest is ILLEGAL.
Take it to the track, much safer and fun.
It is illegal
If racing is your thing, then take it to the track where it belongs.
