I have a 04′ cavalier right now and I want to get something better. I have about 15-20k to spend. I want something at least in the 04 model with low mileage. Ideally I want something fast, luxurious for long car rides, and above all a good car to buy used that won’t nickel and dime me to death with fixes. Any suggestions? I have been looking at lexus, bmw, mercedes, and a few porsche boxsters.

    You can go to the BMW dealer and find great used cars. Just a few years old with low miles for around 14k. an 04 with 25k for 16,000. Seems like a good deal to me.

    I’d suggest the Boxster. That is one nice/cool car.

    EDIT: Corvette is okay, but they won’t sell you one unless you are 50+, and it can’t touch the Porsche cool factor (or luxury).

    If you don’t need the extra room buy a Corvette. I bought one 3 years ago with no problems in that time. I drove a Boxter and it CANNOT compare to the ride or handling of the Corvette. Also it is the only car I have ever owned that is worth more money than I paid for it.

    You need that much to buy a few years old Grand marquis or Town Car?

    Lexus might be the exception, but the Euro junk will cost you the rest of your savings in repair and maintenance costs!

    you can find a newer lexus IS for that price, normally anywhere from a 2003-2005 for that price range.

    Its luxurious, fast, fun to drive, and stylish.

    If not, look into a VW GTi- it has great horsepower, its luxurious if you buy the higher trim, and its safe.

    It’s cool to find another girl who likes nice, fast cars…I know many more girls that don’t like cars than girls that do.
    I assume you’re not too worried about paying for gas, right?
    Some cars, such as the BMW 540i and 545i are fairly quick, and you can find some without too many miles on them.
    However, I’d prefer a Mercedes-Benz C32 AMG or C55 AMG.
    The C32 does 0-60 in about 4.9 seconds, it looks nice, holds four people (as long as the passengers in the back seats aren’t very large), and it’s both classy and cool to have an AMG. You can find some for around $20k with less than 40,000 miles on them, but you might have to look for a while. Another thing I like about these two AMGs is the automatic with paddle shifters, which, although I’ve yet to drive a car with that transmission, I have heard that it can reduce shift times a lot, but it still allows you to do the shifting if you want to (there’s a “regular” auto mode) very easily.
    The C55 AMG is newer and has a more powerful engine, but finding one that’s not a salvage and has lower miles will not be too easy to find in your price range, I suspect. However, here are a few I found
    without incredibly high miles:=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=0&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&sownerid=574195&showZipError=n&make=MB&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=28226&advanced=&end_year=2009&doors=&transmission=&max_price=20000&cardist=2112=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=0&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&sownerid=574195&showZipError=n&make=MB&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=28226&advanced=&end_year=2009&doors=&transmission=&max_price=20000&cardist=455
    Repairs on German luxury cars might not be cheap, but I’d rather get a nice car and hope things don’t break (that can be reduced with proper maintenance), than get a cheap car that isn’t fast and isn’t fuel-efficient either.
    You might also look at an Audi S4 or S6.
    I hope this helps.
