Can I put an aftermarket Edelbrock carb on a stock cast iron intake?

And also, my truck has a pollution pump and cat converter. The carburetor is non-emissions. Does this mean the carb will not work on my truck? If so, is there a way of bypassing the emissions? Thanks.
fstbck, It is a Dodge D100 with a 318ci v8.
