Automotive Tools - US Set or Metric Set?

Okay, i was looking to buy/invest in a good tool set. I was thinking snap on. But i could not decide if i should get the US snap on set or the metric set. I think somewhere i heard that even amercian cars are switching the the metric side. Which set should i get and why? I work on all cars… Chevy, Ford, Toyota, Acura, Mitsubishi and so on. Please give me your feedback.

I just recently also bought a complete new tool set. But I went with Craftsman 155 piece set for $99.
The price was great and the warranty is fabulous. It has metric and “standard” sockets. Actually there’s lots of overlap in 1/4 & 3/8 and 1/2 sockets.
As a backyard amateur, I like the fact that if they ever break, I can just take it back to sears and get a replacement the SAME DAY. If I was a pro with a mechanic co-worker, I could probably just borrow on or two pieces till the broken piece is replaced. But I don’t want to wait days (or weeks) with all the car parts torn apart waiting for something to come back in the mail.

get a set of both as nearly all cars use both now days not just the one.
Get a metric set. i have a 96 ford explorer, and i can mostly do everything with metrics. but i would look into getting a full set us/met.
Metric is probably more important, what with globalization of the auto industry, but get both. You never know when one or the other will come up.
if you want to be prepared to work on any car then you need standard and metric. save some money and get the same quality in your tools with craftsman. of course sears probally won’t extend the same credit to you as the snap on truck will.
snap ons are great tools but they come with a price!!!!!!!!
they are mechanics tools and good ones!
you can buy sears craftmans for less price with same warranty!
maybe able to buy both sets metric and standard!

I prefer Metric. But most american made cars are standard. If you work with mostly imports, go Metric, Or just buy both.
craftsmen is cheaper in price and do the same job with lifetime warrenty you can buy a set that contains both us & metric for lot less than snap on. deopending on the year of us car depends on weather it is metric or not. in the late 80’s most us manufactures started using metric all new us cars use metric so it depends on the year.
