How to Choose the Best Hid Kits for Your Car

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Monday 15 June 2009 8:52 am

Imran ali

HID stands for High Intensity Discharger and HID kits are used for upgrading a vehicle’s headlights. Some of the benefits of this modification include low power consumption and a better intensity of light. Many companies have recognized the worth of HID lights and therefore these lights are part of almost all new car and truck models. However, if you have an old car and would like to improve its performance then installing an HID conversion kit can prove to be a great modification. Buying these kits from a reputable car parts manufacturer is a good option to avoid legal issues and other reliability problems.

It has been found that HID lights produce up to 3 times more light than simple halogen bulbs which are factory installed. Furthermore, they require only 35 Watt power as compared to 55 Watt required by halogen bulbs. The technology used in these types of headlights is somewhat different and the functionality is optimized to bring about a positive change to your car’s performance. Reliable manufacturers provide waterproof and shockproof HID kits to their customers that can last for many years to come. Many people want to install these kits as they are not only cost effective but are also very easy to install.

There are some factors that contribute to overall good design and longevity of HID headlights. Keep these points in mind when you order your kits online. There are basically four types of HID car kits available on the market. These include single beam, hi/lo beam, telescope kit and bi-xenon kit. It depends on your requirements, budget and some other specifications to decide which of these kits to install. You may also want to read the specifications of different kits that come under all these types to choose the right one for your car or truck.

The brightness of light coming from these bulbs is measured in Kelvin or simply K units. HID kits are designed to produce double brightness as compared to halogen bulbs. They come in color variations ranging from white to blue. 5000K to 7000K is a common range of color temperatures used in the construction of HID lights. HID conversion kits are safe to use and manufactured by keeping in view the traffic rules regarding the intensity of car headlights and other legal issues. These kits come with complete instruction booklets to help you out through the process of installation.

Different car kits are provided by the aftermarket car parts manufacturers for different models. The best way to find out which car kit is best suited to your requirements is to conduct an online search. By using this method you can easily browse through a number of options available for the modification of your car’s headlights. You can also simply replace the bulbs with new ones made with xenon technology by finding out about the specifications of factory installed bulbs in your car. This way you can assure that the new headlights will work fine with no technical problems.

For all those automobile enthusiasts out there, installing HID kits in a car can be very beneficial as well as attractive. A generic HID kit is composed of three parts: bulbs, ballasts and igniter. When choosing HID lights for your car you can either go for a generic kit or individual parts depending on your requirements. You can search for these kits online and if you are able to find a package that comes with a good warranty period and easy to install parts, you can be assured that you have found an excellent deal. These kits are not only very popular but also a great option for upgrading your car as they also serve to enhance engine performance and overall operation.

How to Detail Your Car

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Sunday 14 June 2009 10:31 am

Komaka Wilson
Some say that Guido da Vigevano built the first car in 1335 that used a windmill type assembly to drive a set of gears to turn the wheels. I would say that if that is the case, that he probably was also the first one to clean a car. Now the car wash/detailing industry has become a multi-billion dollar industry. Although why would you want to spend you hard earned money on having some one else detail your car? When you could do it yourself, and make sure it is completed correctly and the way you want. Besides I know a lot of car enthusiast out there who would really prefer to detail their cars themselves.

After years of experience and talking with some of the best product/technical representatives around today, I have compiled a how to guide for car owners that want to do there own work. This guide is intended for all car enthusiasts on all levels. Maybe you are new to car detailing or you are just looking for some new “tricks” to give you the advantage at your next car show. Either way I hope that this guide helps you on your journey.

First off detailing is hard work and time consuming. No matter what your reason for wanting to detail your car from wanting to attend a car show to selling your vehicle detailing will be well worth your time and effort. Now there are products out there that say that it will cut your time in half, and that you only need to do it once a year. However, several professional detailers I talked with said that many of the new cheaper products are indeed too good to be true and can damage paint jobs. This is why I suggest staying away from low quality products and sticking with the known products. There is nothing that works as well as hard work and some elbow grease. I will make some suggestions as I continue through the guide, but if you have a product you really like, go ahead and use it.

Detail Kits are available at www.mpcustoms.com

Before you get started you will need:

Paper towels, rags, and chamois. Old t-shirts work well, and if you can find any old “clean” cloth diaper use them because they make excellent rags for polishing the finish and are great for windows.

Brushes. You’ll need a few different varieties and sizes to get into the hard to reach areas. An old toothbrush works well, and several cotton swabs.

Wash bucket. Make sure it is clean, and you may want to keep is as your car washing bucket only. This may help prevent getting unwanted dirt and chemicals in a bucket you use to clean your car with.

Wash mitts and or a good quality sponge.

Bug removal sponge

Power Washer or a good hose nozzle with different head types. Power Washers are getting pretty reasonably priced now and you can pick them up at any hardware store.

Shop Vacuum or equivalent.

Orbital Buffer. Again these are getting pretty reasonably priced.

Now where to begin? Most professionals I talk to suggest starting on the interior first, so the dust and dirt you brush out won’t settle on a cleaned exterior. Remove any floor mats and give the carpeting and upholstery a good vacuuming. Move the seats forward and backward to get all the dirt including in the tracks, and door jams. You should also use one of your harder bristled brushes to get any dirt out from the cracks; it is also good for stirring up the carpet matt so you can get most of the junk out of the carpet.

Now if you have any stubborn stains in the upholstery or carpet this is the time to deal with them. Use an all purpose cleaner to get the stubborn stains out. Saturate the stain with cleaner, working it in with a damp sponge. Let it sit awhile and then blot it out with a dry towel. Make sure to read the direction on the cleaner for specific precautions. You can also use a window cleaner sprayed on a rag to get the headliner clean. Don’t forget the trunk/hatchback areas as well.

You can repair burns and holes in your carpet by cutting out the area with a razor blade. Then cut a similar size piece from a hidden spot, such as underneath the seat, and cement it in place using a water resistant adhesive. Blend in the repair by brushing the repaired piece with the old. You can also go to a carpet outlet and can buy a carpet sample for pretty reasonable price that could match the carpet of the car. If your carpet is still looking bad you can shampoo it to get any remaining dirt and grease out. You can usually rent these machines at a carpet store or even you local grocery/retail chain. Start with the carpets on the driver’s side then the seats; this keeps the water to a minimum. Move around the whole car until you’re done. Again make sure you read any precautions from the manufacturer.

Now move on to the interiors hard surfaces, clean them with a damp cloth and a mild all-purpose cleaner. If you have leather upholstery, dress the surfaces with a leather conditioner; spray it on a rag for tight areas. Never use a vinyl product on leather. Worn or torn areas of vinyl can be repaired using kits made for this purpose. Repairs are made with a patch that lets you match the color and grain of your upholstery. Worn areas of leather can be touched up with dyes or a high grade shoe polish.

Now for one of the harder parts the dash. First you can blast any dust away with a can of compressed air. Clean air vent grilles with cotton swabs and brighten them up by misting on some spray on rubber dressing. Spray any dress up cleaner on a soft towel and then apply it to the rest of the dash, be careful around the instrument panel.

Then move on to the windows. If you are like me, then you **** cleaning windows for the fear of streaks. Some pointers in this area are to don’t spray directly on the window, but onto a rag. Have a dry cloth ready to wipe it dry. You can even use newspaper to wipe it dry, the abrasiveness acts like a polish and it won’t leave any streaks. Also make sure you rinse your hands off before cleaning your windows, this will help remove any unwanted dressing. If you have aftermarket window tint film, it may be degraded by cleaners that contain ammonia or vinegar. Factory tinting is in the glass and is not affected by these cleaners.

Now it’s time to move to the exterior of your car, well kind of, detailing your engine. First you will need to cover any sensitive equipment such as electrical components. Try using a heavy duty aluminum foil for this step. If you use a home pressure washer for this, be careful, you can blow water in areas that weren’t meant to get wet. I prefer using a regular garden home for this step. After you have sealed everything off, spray a heavy duty degreaser on to the cool temperature engine. Again read any warnings or precautions on the degreaser. Use a pointy brush to get any stubborn deposits. Then spray down with your hose, making sure you get all of the degreaser off.

Once you’re satisfied, start up the motor and let it run for a while with the hood down. Then remove the foil and use a rag sprayed with the degreaser and wipe down any parts covered. Now you can wipe everything down with a rubber dressing or shining product. However, do not spray or wipe down your belts, and make sure you read any precautions on the product.

Were finally on to the part about actually washing your car. Make sure that you are using a clean wash mitt or sponge, and that your bucket is free of dirt and contaminates. Work in the shade and make sure the surface is cool. Make sure that you are using a good car wash, and don’t use dish washing detergents. The dish washing detergent damages the finish, stripping it of vital oils causing it to dry out.

Presoak the car first making sure you get rid of any of the big dirt. Also remove any bug and tar items time using tar & bug remover with a sponge. Move on to the rims, since rims collect brake dust and road debris. Use a wheel cleaner that is made for your type of rims such as being clear coated or not. Don’t overlook the under side of the vehicle, and the gas cap lid as well. Now start at the top of your vehicle and move your way down. Make sure that you get all areas, and rinse often. To do a final rinse, remove the spray head from the hose and flood the finish. The water will tend to run off in sheets, minimizing spotting. When drying the vehicle off, you can use a chamois to get the bulk of the water, but finish it off with soft towels.

When you’re done washing and the car is mostly dry, apply your rubber dressings to the tires, bumpers and any plastic parts you want to shine. This gives the car to finish drying and you can then look for missed areas or water runs.

Most people stop here and say they are done, if they even get to this point. They over look one of the most important steps in detailing and preserving a vehicle, and that is waxing. Now the market is full of different types of waxing products, but how many of them actually work? Most of the average cheap waxes contain a very small portion of wax in them, and use petroleum instead. Products that are like this do very little in preserving and waxing the paint, if anything they just waste your time and money. Also be aware of the spray on wax with water. These waxes might give some protection for a day or two, but nothing like the protection of a carnauba wax.

Before you wax you need to get rid of any oxidation you may have. Typically, you will not have to do this every time. Oxidation depends on how much you wax, when you wax, how much sun the car is exposed to, and other weather conditions. Oxidation can usually be removed with a clear coat compound. For standard finishes you can step up to polishing compound, which is mild but still too harsh for clear coats. If you do use these products, you must seal the paint after.

If you decided to use a compound for oxidation, then you must seal the paint. You can buy a glaze/sealer to do this. Most sealers or glazers you apply by wiping on. Then use soft towels to remove it after it has hazed over.

Now you are ready to wax. Make sure you are using a good wax, preferably one with high amounts of carnauba wax in it. Again, start at the top of your vehicle and do small sections as you work your way down. Don’t let it sit more than 5-8 minutes before removing, and two thin coats of this is much better than one thick coat. Also apply it with a side to side motion instead of circular to prevent swirls. Be sure to include door jambs, and the areas beneath door hinges and behind bumpers. Minor blemishes may be neutralized by wrapping a cotton cloth around your index finger and burnishing the polish into the finish.

If you machine-buff the polish/wax to a high luster, go with an orbital rather than a rotary model, which would be more likely to burn the paint. The rotary buffer is much faster than orbital but in the wrong hands can easily damage paint. Treat the plastic chrome as if it were a painted surface and protect it with a light coat of wax. Try and not get any on the black rubberized parts. If you do, spray it with a mist and wipe product and wipe it down with a terry cloth towel. If that doesn’t work a professional detailer gave this as a suggestion: Microwave some peanut butter and apply it to the stain with a soft toothbrush. Peanut butter’s oils dissolve the wax and its abrasive enough to lift the stain. If you get a polish/wax residue around emblems or in crevices, break out the cotton swabs and toothbrushes. After removing it all go around and remove any excess from the cracks and emblems using a brush and towel. Cloth diapers are excellent for buffing up a shine.

Here’s a tip: break the car down into equal sections. Apply the prep/sealer/wax to one section at a time before moving on to the next. This let’s you concentrate your efforts on small areas at a time.

Also keep a good car duster around for getting the dust that some products leave behind.

Plus remember to protect your cars finish from the elements as much as possible. This means storing the car in a garage, covered area, or with a good quality car cover. A car that is constantly exposed to sunlight and other environmental hazards will deteriorate quicker and require significantly more cosmetic maintenance.

We hope that you found the information helpful.

How To Decide Whether Or Not To Customize Your Car Stereo

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Friday 12 June 2009 5:25 pm

Gregg Hall
It’s pretty obvious isn’t it? It’s just a simple stereo system in an automobile, you say. Although a few people like to install home stereo systems in their automobiles, sometimes it just doesn’t work. Maybe prior to today’s high powered systems it could’ve worked just fine. All you required was a radio and a cassette player (or 8 track, for those other dinosaurs out there) lug those big box speakers into the backseat and you would be rocking down the highway. But today there are things like compact disc players and mp3 players and your popup liquid crystal display panels and all that other high tech gadgetry you would believe they would like to establish a home theater system right on the console of their van. If you don’t know anything about stereo systems but want to have some good sounds in your vehicle anyway, here are a few things to know about a car stereo.

As I mentioned above, back in the day head units and speakers from home audio systems and professional markets were just merely installed into vehicles. Nonetheless, they weren’t well appropriate for the extremes of temperature and vibration which are a natural component of the surroundings of an automobile. Since car stereo enthusiasts were not content with the audio quality of regular car sound systems, and with the coming of the CD player, they really had to begin altering some of these home stereo systems in order to function properly in an automotive environment and now we have the modern car stereo system.

If you own a new vehicle, that you bought from about 1990 to present day, odds are you already have a factory car stereo system in your vehicle unless you replaced it with an aftermarket system yourself. Some auto makers produce their own car stereos, like BMW which includes a respectable car stereo package head unit and speakers. It is standard equipment which comes with all their cars (which isn’t astonishing when you consider that BMW is included in the league of “luxury car makers”). Or comparable to Mercedes Benz or Volkswagen, they employ car stereo systems from a German audio system manufacturer by the name of Blaupunkt.

A normal car stereo receiver (also called a head unit) commonly includes an auto-reverse cassette deck, a CD player and occasionally the optional CD changer, which automatically changes the compact disk in play. On newer automobile models, the stereo may also play mp3s and additional digital audo file types like WMA and AAC, whether on a CD or a storage device which can be connected to the head unit.

These days the car stereo receiver is connected to numerous speakers. Older automobiles usually had just one speaker mounted underneath the dashboard, directing the sound through perforations towards the front windshield. The standard for automobile stereo today is a pair of “tweeters” (employed to bring out high treble) on the driver side/front passenger side dash, along with a pair of normal mid-range speakers in both doors, and sometimes even the backseat passenger doors if it’s a larger car or SUV and larger speakers able to bring out low ends at the back portion of the backseats.

Car Insurance : Why it is a Must?

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Tuesday 9 June 2009 3:29 am

Smith James
As per the reports revealed by surveys on car crimes in the UK, there were over 1.3M1 vehicle thefts and break-ins last year. While there is a steady increase in both these types of crimes, the latter actually has increased by 1% year on year. Thus, car crime remains a major issue in the UK, and enhances the importance of car insurance even further. Hence, it is not surprising at all that auto insurance is a must in the country.

Data shown by surveyors also reveal that the financial impact of having a car stolen is significant as it costs the average theft victim over £3,000. Car owners in the UK had to spend approximately £315M2 annually on aftermarket security products. That is why it is necessary to get a car insured so that the loss one incurs because of such incidents can be compensated. Car insurance is exigent for this.

Though a legal necessity and must be taken by all, car insurance does not come free of cost. Rather, sometimes the cost gets high and out of easy rich. That is why effort is made to keep he cost low by using various ways and means. One of the effective ways of lowering cost of car insurance is to fit the accessories of certain companies to it. As per the survey made by the Home Office in the UK, certain products are effective as a car can be up to 70% less likely to be stolen if they are fitted to it.

Car insurance agencies want to ascertain that the car they are insuring has minimum risk of being stolen. So, they want the car owner add such products that are approved by the companies that are jointly owned by the car manufacturers and insurance industry. There are other ways of minimizing the cost of a car insurance deal. But addition of accessories approved by the insurers remains the best bet.

Body kits are very popular. Some people cannot imagine a car without them. Front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and spoilers have uses. They provide safety and improve aerodynamics of a car. Their function demands that body kits be made of a tough material. Therefore, materials used in their manufacture are metals, or polyurethane, or fiber glass. Body kits made of some materials last longer than those made by others. This has to be taken into account while selecting them. Normally new body kits ought to be installed in new cars. Used body kits can be installed in used cars.

Why Do You Need A Good Car Audio System?

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Thursday 4 June 2009 9:22 am

Cheow Yu Yuan
sized chrome rims for your car, if you do have a good car audio system, all of those mentioned above are useless. To enjoy a good experience with your car, a good car audio system is a must to have.

As you know that having a poor car audio system will definitely spoil the experience when you are driving your favourite toy. Although the investment for a good system is steep, it is definitely worth to have for the marvellous experience that you are going to enjoy. However, not all expensive system performs well if they are not installed properly. Therefore, be sure to hand it to a professional if you are not proficient enough to do a good job.

How do we determine whether an audio system is good or great? The answer is that only you can decide as it must first exceed your expectations. If you find that the new system that you are testing is way much better than your current system, then that one is definitely better.

The type of car you drive also play an important role in what kind of car audio system you should build. As most of what hear inside a car is a recording of the original artist in a given environment, the music are played in a totally different environment with us being placed in awkward listening positions relative to the placement of the speakers. This will give us a poor listening experience. A great audio system is created with the understanding of acoustics, basic electronics and the different products that are to be used.

To prevent you from getting a poor listening experience due to different environments, you should compare your audio system and experience it live in as many different environments as possible. One of the best ways to compare is to visit car audio conventions. As you move from exhibit to exhibit, you can notice the difference in sound characteristics of each system. By doing so, you will be able to find some systems that you prefer over others. Once you have found your favourite, as for the specs from the promoters.

There are many benefits in getting aftermarket speakers. Firstly, they have a larger frequency response which means that there is more music coming through your speakers. Secondly they have more power handling capabilities and are able to increase your car audio system bass.

Lastly, other than getting the right speakers, you need to have good amplifiers. Weak amplifiers damage good car audio speakers. With a good amplifier, it can help eliminate distortion and improve the sound clarity tremendously. One way to test whether an amplifier is good, you can turn the stereo system above half volume and if the sound is not distorted, you can consider getting it.

A good car audio system is something to show for. It can bring satisfaction to you, and to those who will witness it

Buying at Government Car Auctions

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Wednesday 3 June 2009 2:59 pm

Deb Weidenhamer
Are you thinking about buying at a government car auction? This article is designed to provide you with the details on how government seized auctions work and how they can get you the best deal on used car. Specifics may vary from auction to auction; however, the following information includes helpful and important guidelines from which everyone can benefit.

Government seized auctions are a great place to pick up high end luxury car at a fraction of its original retail price. Have you ever pulled up next to a fully loaded Mercedes at a stop light, glanced over and noticed that the driver is barely out of high school? How could they possibly afford the car payment on that kind of ride? Well, they probably purchased the vehicle at a government seized car auction and paid next to nothing for it.

If you have ever dreamed about owning a high-end luxury car or a customized vehicle loaded with aftermarket parts and accessories, you’ve probably done just that - dreamed about it. Paying retail price for a car like that can put a huge dent in your wallet or your savings account. However, you can get a car like that for much less.

Government car auctions get their supply from criminals. When someone is convicted of a crime, like drug trafficking, the government can seize their assets, including their vehicle. Bad for the criminals but good for you! Government seized automobiles are usually luxury vehicles - BMW, Cadillac, Mercedes, Infiniti, Lexus - and sometimes you may even come across and exotic import like an Aston Martin, Maserati, Ferrari or even a Lamborghini! Not many people can afford a car like this, but it’s possible if you attend a government seized auto auction.

It costs a lot of money to store cars. That’s why government agencies are quick to liquidate their surplus auto inventory as quickly as possible so that they can save money. Government car auctions may also feature their own surplus vehicles, or those no longer needed. These can be passenger vehicles, decoy cars, heavy equipment or even motorcycles, bicycles and ATVs. Other cars features at government auctions are retired police cars or fleet vehicles. These kinds of automobiles are replaced regularly by their respective agencies and are usually domestic cars with high mileage that have been meticulously maintained. You are much more likely to receive vehicle history with a government-owned and operated vehicle than you are a seized vehicle. Keep this in mind if vehicle history is important to you.

There are literally thousands of vehicles available at government seized car auctions. There could be an awesome bargain right around the corner from where you live and you may never know it if you’re not looking. If you’re in the market for a car, especially a high end luxury car, and you don’t want to pay full retail price, government car auctions are the way to go! You will find some of the best values in the car auction market without sacrificing all of your money.

Car Audio - How To Install Car Audio

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Wednesday 3 June 2009 8:06 am

Cheow Yu Yuan
Do you want to save some money by installing a car audio system yourself? To install a car audio system, it is not that hard after all, and you definitely can do it. Doing a car audio installation is a very rewarding experience for you too, as you will get to learn a lot from it. Once you get it installed, you will feel a sense of satisfaction from it. Now go and get your desired system.

What is next after you have bought the system? When you are installing it, you must be very careful as you will not want to damage your expensive system. Most of the audio systems are no-brainers to install. They have shaped sockets and slots which would only fit where it is supposed to be installed. It is advisable for you to follow the instruction manual and proceed methodically.

Before the installation, you have to determine what kind of rig you are going to put into your car first. If you are a beginner in car audio installation, it is advisable for you to start from a simple system. Leave the more complicated stuffs like LCD installation and motorized parts to the professionals.

One of the easiest things to install is the head units. Most head units follow a standard size. For most of the cars, once the factory radio is removed, the aftermarket radio will fit in the hole. However, some cars may have hole which is too big, and in this case, you will need a kit to install it. To get kits required for installation, you can visit any car audio stores in your town.

Basically, there are 2 types of mounting in a car audio installation. The first is the ISO mounting. It is when the radio can be screwed to existing factory radio brackets. Most Japanese cars are ISO mounted. The second type of mounting is the ring mounting. It is when an aftermarket radio comes with a metal ring that gets mounted to the factory radio hole. In many cars, dash and trim rings have to be filed in order to enlarge the radio hole. After you have successfully installed the ring, the radio slides in and is held by snaps. However, if you want to remove it in the future, special tools are required.

Now, let us talk about speakers. Speaker installation is very critical for your car audio system. If the speakers are not installed properly, the sound will not be up to par. In simple system installation, you are most likely to use speakers which fit correctly into a factory location. Just make sure that there are no gaps or holes. One tip to get better sound is to build a wood or fibreglass baffle to reduce holes. But be careful when using power tools around speakers and the warranties usually do not cover holes in speakers. Do check with your car audio seller before any purchase. If your speaker cannot fit into the location, metal need to be cut. It is highly advisable for you to leave this to the professionals to save you some troubles.

Lastly, after you have successfully installed your car stereo, you need to make sure that it can put up with vibrations and other noise sources. There are excellent sound proofing products in the market that can help to decrease the noise tremendously.

Hid Xenon Conversion Kit is the Choice of Popular Car Manufacturers

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Thursday 28 May 2009 6:40 pm

Cherryl Anne Cruz
There really isn’t any doubt that H.I.D. bulbs are gaining a lot of appeal in the automotive industry. Ask most luxury car owners and it’s one of the things they have included in their “To Buy” list. In fact, some even prefer to buy cars with installed HID lamps already. These bulbs have slowly become a household name in the industry — thanks to the right combination of style and safety that it is becoming known for.

Due to its popularity, a lot of manufacturers are also starting to install these lights in their vehicles. Here are some known brands that use HID Xenon Conversion Kits.

Acura

When you buy xenon lights, ask for the “xenon package.” HID Kits only introduced in their factory recently, that’s why they mostly deal with aftermarket Xenon conversion kits. Some models who can carry these kits are Acura Integra, Acura RSX, Acura MDX, Acura TL, Acura RL, Acura RDX, Acura EL, Acura TSX, Acura Vigor, Acura CL. Acura NSX, are now able to have xenon Kit installed onto them, even if they were not equipped to do so.

Audi

Audi HID Kit easily found on the market compared to other cars. You can choose from different bulb sizing to fit your headlights, low beam or high beam, and also your fog lights.

BMW

Xenon Kits have been placed in BMW’s since mid to late 90’s, and it has been a pattern for most of their models ever since. BMW installs offers HID kit options on their following vehicles: BMW E36 1992-1999, BMW E46 2000- 2006, BMW E90 2005 to present, BMW E32 1987-1994, BMW E38 1994- 2001, BMW E34 1987- 1996, BMW E60 and E61 2004- present, BMW E65 and E66 2002- 2007, BMW E63 and E64 2004 – present, BMW Z1, BMW Z3, BMW Z4, BMW X3, BMW X5, BMW X6.

BMW also offers HID upgrades for many of their new cars. But they don’t offer xenon for older cars. This is the reason why the aftermarket industry offers BMW Xenon kits in the market today. They are designed to be a complete plug and play kit, so it would be easy for drivers to install it themselves.

Cadillac

Cadillac xenon lights are now available through an aftermarket supplier. The Kit is ready to install, and uses the plug and play system.

Chevy

Chevy models that have these kits include the Tahoe, Silverado, Malibu, Surburban, HHR, C-1500 Pickups and other great cars made by Chevy.

Jaguar

The Jaguar models you can install these kits into are the S-type, X-type, XF, XJ6, XJ6, XJR, XJ8, and XK8.

Mercedes

Mercedes introduces these kits as an OEM upgrade on certain models of their vehicles. Aftermarket Mercedes Xenon Conversion Kits are designed to be a complete plug and play for Mercedes cars, SUVs, and minivans. They come in many different bulb sizes such as; H1, H3, H4, H7, h13, 9004, 9005, 9006, 9007, D1S, D2S, H1, H3, H4-1, H7, 9004-1, 9005, 9006, 9007-1.

HID Conversion Kits lights are definitely making its presence known in the automotive industry. Many car aficionados and manufacturers agree: The combination of style and safety that these kits offer truly gives them an edge in bringing quality and substance to the forefront of modern technological innovation.

Mustang Aftermarket Auto Parts

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Thursday 28 May 2009 6:13 pm

Robin Hamilton
When you purchased your Mustang and drove it home, you felt so good, didn’t you? Well now that you have had it at home for some time, you’re ready for a change. Maybe you have noticed a lot of Mustangs looking just like yours. Well in this world today, you will see the same exact car you are driving. It’s inevitable and going to happen. Well there is something you can do about it. It’s all in aftermarket auto parts. Yes, you to can make a change to your automobile. Mustang or not, you can still make that change, its really as simple as adding some aftermarket items, from interior to exterior and even performance items.

One of the best alternatives to stock automobiles is a set of nice wheels and tires. This is one way you can add your personality and give your ride that distinctive look. A few items to keep in mind and that is, the size of tire and wheel you are running on your vehicle now vs. what you want to put on it. There are restrictions to the size of wheel and tire you can mount. So make sure you do some research. There are a lot of forums about wheels and tires as well as you local tire company. All you really need is the make, model and year of your car and the current tire size that is mounted on your vehicle. The last thing you want to do is spend the money on some wheels and tires and find out they won’t fit on your vehicle. Make sure you do some research on the types of materials that the wheels are made of. Some take extra care in keeping them clean, where some do not! I also like to mention to take a look at what type of tire your mounting. Is it going to handle the type of driving that you are doing? Another recommendation is if you change out your wheels and tires, hold on to your stock set and run the stock set in the winter, if you drive it in the winter and if you live in the north.

Interior accessories are always a nice way to add some change to your interior. Mustang has a great billet package. Door handles, door locks, accessory control knobs, shifters, pedal covers and door runners. There are also a lot of different types of instrument panel colors and gauges if you want to get that far into it. Some also go as far as changing out the seats to a more racing style. If this is what you are looking for, they make some nice custom seats available for the Mustang.

Exterior accessories are another alternative to a different look. You can start out with some aftermarket headlamps or tail lights. Or you can get exotic with body kits. Most are performance driven as well. What I mean is most body kits are designed to help in the handling of the vehicle. Rear spoilers are very good at getting some more down force on the rear end. Where front and rear body kits can help out with wind resistance. All change the look and enhances the handling capabilities. Hoods are also a nice way to change the looks. You have the option of changing out the hood complete, or you can order a nice hood scoop already painted and ready to be mounted to your stock hood. Some are functional and some are pure looks. Functional would be for added air intake, like ram air. Keep in mind that most body kit parts need to be painted, so make sure you budget for this. Talk to a local paint shop to get an estimate so you know what it is going to take.

Now we can get into the performance side of it. I know you want to make that Mustang rumble a little, right? Well from headers, to H pipes, cat back systems, and high flow mufflers, you can purchase them all. How about checking out a supercharger. You can upgrade your horsepower greatly and still use it as a daily driver. This gets a little deep as to installation, but most kits come complete with everything you need. And to be honest it really isn’t much of an issue to install yourself. If not a supercharger, then maybe a cold air induction kit. A note on cold air intakes. Make sure you purchase a real cold air kit. This means the air filter typically mounts outside of the engine compartment and or is contained from the engine compartment. I have seem so many people run a short tube off the mass air unit and the filter is under the hood. Well if you think about it, you are pulling hot air into your intake. Not good. You want cooler air. Cooler air, more power! Now don’t get me wrong here, if you build it to run the strip that’s fine, but if you are going to be driving it around all day, get a true cold air induction kit. Most will mount to the fender well area and the filter sits up inside the fender. Do a little research online, many forums have tons of information available. I highly recommend if you never attempted doing any installation on performance parts, go see an authorized mechanic. After all you want to dive your Mustang, not wrench on it all the time.

Aftermarket auto parts for your Mustang or any of your blue oval rides are a great way to make a change. Mustangs are so popular that you almost have to personalize it yourself. Remember to always make sure your purchasing the parts you need for your make, model and year of your Mustang, or any of your rides as far as that goes. There have been so many models of the Mustang that it gets scary. So make sure you do your research and get some ideas, and ask questions! This is one of the best ways to understand what that part is going to do for you before you purchase them.

Classic Car Best Buys

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Sunday 24 May 2009 7:00 pm

Ross Hinton
How about a credible classic as a second car, runabout or something to kick-start the hobby off… and all for under a thousand pounds?  The classic car enthusiasts at Sureterm Direct came up with this list that they thought might start you dreaming.

Hillman Avenger

Why buy - It’s a stylish, low cost runabout that does the job as good as any rival and is a lot cheaper than most. Miles better than the old Minx and Hunter, there’s a wide range of two or four-door saloons and roomy estates, plus GT and luxury GLS offshoots.

Best bits -  Lively performance (especially 1600 and all GT’s) and good, clean handling mark this Hillman out as one if the better saloons of the 70’s, and this goes for the trim levels too, especially the GL and GLS.

Best buys - GTs and GLS models, 1500GL, and some good special editions.

Spares and Support - Bearable but you will need to look far and wide. Club support better than most thanks to the official Association of clubs.

Triumph TR7

Why buy - The TR7 is a misunderstood and overlooked TR and yet it’s as accomplished as any of the earlier icons and far more sophisticated, especially its suspension. There’s a good number around going cheap and can only rise in value.

Best bits - The TR7 drives much better than it looks with TR6 pace, far better handling and good refinement, especially the coupe. There are loads of cheap and effective upgrades to refine the car further.

Best buys - Nice coupe or a pretty average convertible if you can get one in the budget but the latter are rare.

Spares and Support - The former is pretty good – club support to usual TR standards and there are TR7 specialists now sprouting up, some are even remanufacturing bits.

Jaguar XJ40

Why buy - There can’t be a cheaper more accessible way to own a classic car and while the XK40 has been derided, it’s now starting to gain respect. It has all the good points of the old XJ6 but in a more modern package. Loads around, it’s a great ‘first step’ Jaguar.

Best bits - The XJ is a genuine Jag with sublime handling and a cosseting ride that’s even better than the old S3. The pace and grace is there while top models come with everything, especially Daimlers.

Best buys - Always on condition and avoid the 2.9, or leather-less models

Spares and Support - No real worries plus there’s a good spread of specialists to contain costs. Club support not as good as older jaguars, but it’s improving by the month.

MG Montego

Why buy - If you’re after a modern sporty saloon with a raffish charm for general duties, then the MG Montego wins. It’s the new age Magnette in every way and you’d be pressed to pay £1000 for even the best example. And it’s a car we can see creeping up in value and respect.

Best bits - The Montego wears the MG badge with ease care of good performance (towering in Turbo form), and pleasing civility. It’s a very roomy saloon that was well equipped for its era and tasteful

Best buys - A nice well looked after 2.0Efi

Spares and Support - Not as good as ‘trad’ MGs but not too bad. Usual array of MG clubs ensure that strong support will always be there.

Porsche 924

Why buy - There’s no cheaper, sleep-easier way to get into pukka porche ownership – despite the 924’s image! VW/Audi parts ensure inexpensive running and although the 924 is no supercar, the performance is nothing to grumble over either. Dead reliable and lots around going cheap, but values are intensifying.

Best bits - Nice packaging with great weight distribution makes the 924 a fine driver’s car. Pace just adequate on early models but pretty rapid on 944-powered 924S. Hatch provides day to day versatility or they make good cheap racers.

Best buys - Anything honest and original, but five-speeders or later 924S best.

Spares and Support - WV/Audi parts means few probs (beetle bits too) and plenty of scrappers around for spares. Good club and specialist support.

Vauxhall Chevette

Why buy - If you’re after old school economy fun that’s simple to keep and fun to drive, then the Chevette is for you. With its Viva engine married to an Opel Kadett chassis it goes a treat plus there’s shed loads you can do to improve it.

Best bits - Rear wheel drive, the chevette is a classic handler while the Viva 1256cc engine is fairly peppy. Handily-sized, the Vauxhall feels small next to a new supermini. Simple mechanics couldn’t be easier to service.

Best buys - Condition counts above all else, but go for hatch or estate models launched in 1975 as a hatch with saloons and estates for ’76. Top GLS model and hot 16-valve HS and rally bred HSR join range by ’78. Various specials, such as E and ES, and 1980s facelifts before axe in ’84.

Spares and Support - Most mechanical parts are obtainable but body panels are not, so it’s autojumble time! Club support generally okay, but will never be Ford good.

Ford Capri MK2/MK3

Why buy - Despite being 40 in 2009, Capris are still promising and the less popular Mk2/Mk3 hatchbacks are still cheap. Hatchback versatility, decent drive with easy spares and mods make the Ford a practical proposition and we reckon prices will rise soon.

Best bits - Rear wheel drive, lively 1.6/2.0 Pinto engines and huge potential for modernising, Capris are sensible second car classics. Easy to drive, fairly refined and neatly trimmed in top Ghia forms.

Best buys - Condition counts most here but go for 2.0 in GL, LS or Cabaret trim if you can.

Spares and Support

Being a Ford the oily bits are very easy to source and repair while body panels seem fairly available. As expected, there’s very strong club/aftermarket support.

BMW 3 Series

Why buy - It was the yuppie’s transport 25 years ago and now the 80s 3 series is fast becoming a classic – specially the quick ones. Sturdy, classy and with classic rear wheel drive handling, these cars are highly practical and useable and simple enough to maintain at home.

Best bits - Cleanly styled, this BMW has timeless good looks. Sport versions are worth hunting down and the estates, through tiny, are handy holdalls.

Best buys - Anything original and cared for; 320i, 325i, 318iS especially.

Spares and Support - Well served by independents and general aftermarket (so cheapish spares) with strong support from a variety of BMW and tuning clubs in UK and Europe.

Body Kits Bring Joy To Your Car

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Sunday 24 May 2009 11:51 am

Louie
A number of accessories are added to a car after purchase. There is a big market of these accessories. Body kits come almost at the *** end of this exercise. They are as important as any other equipment. A number of pros and cons have to be considered before acquiring them.

When a car is driven it moves through atmospheric air. Though invisible, air does exert pressure on the car as it moves. It offers resistance to the motion of the car. Effort should be made to reduce the pressure. Body kits have an important role here. Suitably designed bumpers, skirts, and spoilers can reduce the resistance. It will increase the speed of the car marginally.

Body kits can change the overall look and contours of a car. A wise selection of body kits can impart an entirely new look to your car. You can give it a look of your choice.

Formerly body kits were made of metals. Now a days poly urethane and fiberglass are predominantly used. Consequently now body kits are available in a wide range of shapes and colors.

Proper installation of body kits is equally important. Any fault in installation would adversely affect the utility of body kits or it may even cause damage. It is presumed that you would have ensured beforehand that the body kits that you have purchased are not damaged.

Body kits are available in auto stores. There is a wide variety of them. You can also search for them and buy them online. It would save your time and lessen your trouble. For further information you can go to www.ilovebodykits.com.

A properly equipped car is something of which you can be proud. It will impress those who look at it. If you have judiciously selected body kits and other parts you can make your car stand out amongst other similar cars. It will publicize itself and you as well.

It is said a thing of beauty is a joy forever. The time and money you spend on choosing, buying and installing body kits will be well worth the effort.

How to Purchase a Used Car

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Saturday 23 May 2009 10:28 pm

Robert
Purchasing a used car can be a risky proposition for a variety of reasons. For starters, unless you buy a certified used car, then you really have no idea how well of a condition the car is in and even if you buy a used car from a dealer, you can’t be sure that the car won’t die the minute you sign the contract. Another issue is false mileage readings and previous accident history. Although there are services that can help you address this problem, you need to make sure you are aware of them and use them. To help you, I’d like to tell you step by step how you can decrease your chances of getting ripped off and increase your chances of finding the used car of your dreams.

The two most common places to buy a used car are at car dealerships and in newspapers, although eBay is becoming very popular as well. If you are dealing with a private owner, you should always ask for a CARFAX vehicle history report, which will tell you the vehicle’s mileage and accident history. If the owner is unwilling to show this to you, then the chances are very high that they have something to hide, at which point you should walk away. Most car dealerships will offer this without any hassle, but again if they refuse, then you need to walk away.

The second thing that you need to do is to try and trace the owner history as far back as possible. Knowing how many owners have owned the car will be great help in making your decision. If there have been a lot of owners, then it will be difficult to know the overall condition of the car or could signify the car has had a history of problems. If a vehicle has had very few owners then it is much more likely to have been treated well and sold in good condition.

If you are buying from a private owner, you will definitely have a hard time getting a warranty from them, but you can always purchase an aftermarket warranty from another company. However, at a minimum you want to make sure they have kept and maintained vehicle service records. Car dealerships often provide a minimum of a 1 year warranty, although often you can find one up to 3 years. Try to find a car with the longest warranty possible in the event that there is a hidden problem.

Lastly, make sure you check the used vehicle’s value in the Kelly Blue Book, which should offer both private and dealer values. You are much more likely to get a fair price if you know what the car is worth beforehand.

Buying a used car can definitely be a very risky proposition if you don’t know what you are doing, but if you are armed with the tools necessary to do it right, then you are much more likely to end up with a steal rather than a dud.

Choose Acura Aftermarket Parts for Best Performance

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Saturday 23 May 2009 4:05 am

Evander Klum
Market sales of aftermarket parts have shown considerable growth over the years. One reason that might account for this apparent rise in record sales is practicality on the part of consumers. Aftermarket parts cost less than OEM ones, after all. Thus, while other companies strove to improve the quality of their merchandise by specializing in the production of specific parts, some car companies decided to team up with other aftermarket companies, knowing that such arrangements would enable them to offer aftermarket auto components to consumers. As more and more aftermarket manufacturers started to operate with exacting production standards, aftermarket parts began to be recognized allowing cars to deliver high quality performances.

It was no wonder, then, why a number of reliable companies that manufactured auto parts the likes of Acura Aftermarket Parts especially designed to provide efficiency and durability, emerged from the woodwork. As companies continued to produce Acura Aftermarket Parts with such qualities in tow, aftermarket manufactures finally succeeded in establishing a hammerlock on the industry. In some cases, Acura Aftermarket Parts were so well-built that owners of Acura car models bought them in place of OEM Acura parts since the parts functioned just as well as the original ones.

An extensive roster of Acura Aftermarket Parts are easily available in the market nowadays, at reasonably competitive price queues. Some of these aftermarket parts sources also offer wonderful warranty services to customers as part of their programs. For those who are looking for hard-to-find special aftermarket parts such as Acura Brake Dust Shields, Acura TSX Parts, or even the Acura Ignition Coil can ask these sources for assistance. Acura is the brand name used by the Japanese car manufacturer Honda Motor Company for the row of luxury cars that it has produced in the US, Canada and Hong Kong since March 1986. Aside from marketing luxury automobiles, the brand also includes near-luxury vehicles in its inventory. Acura was introduced in Mexico in 2004 as well as in Chinese markets in 2006. Of late, plans to establish a stronger market presence for Acura in the Japanese market are expected to materialize in 2008. With the Acura brand, Honda has been credited for being the first automaker to tap into the market for luxury cars specifically catered to a Japanese client base outside Japan. And since the formation of Honda’s aftermarket division, the company has also been recognized for being able to offer great choices in aftermarket parts.

So, in selecting the kind of car parts one wishes to install in one’s vehicle, if one is keen on keeping things on a practical keel, counting on Acura Aftermarket Parts to boost vehicle performance is infinitely the best way to go. Because Acura Aftermarket parts are manufactured to Honda’s specifications, top performance is unquestionably assured.

Your Mustang And Aftermarket Auto Parts

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Thursday 21 May 2009 8:18 am

Robin Hamilton
If you are like me, you went out and purchased your new Mustang because you wanted it. Plain and simple, you saw it and wanted it so you purchased it. Then your driving down the road and you see the same exact Mustang that you purchased next to you. Wow, what a blow huh. Well with a little imagination and a bit of cash you can be different. You should think about purchasing some aftermarket auto parts. This can set you apart from the rest. A little imagination, your own personality, a little work and your Mustang can be different. There are several aftermarket auto parts for the Mustang these days. Really there are an endless amount of items.

There are a lot of things you can do to tailor your car to your own personality. Maybe you can start by adding some interior accessories. Billet accessories are a great way to enhance the look. Start out with a few items such as dash control knobs, door locks, door handles, running boards. These are always a good place to start, because you can see the results quickly. Then you can move onto exterior accessories like Matrix headlamps, tinted or clear taillights. These are all items you can install very easily and will set you apart from all the other models like yours.

I have always said a nice set of aftermarket wheels are always a great way to express you taste, and all you need to do is purchase them and have them mounted. Also a nice set of tires to go with. Remember to purchase a set of tires that will mount on your wheels, as well as being correct for your type of driving conditions. I normally recommend that you keep you stock rims and tires for the winter months if you drive it year round and live in the north. Then you can look into some aftermarket suspension. Always looks nice to lower it a little. Gives you that great handling and a nice look.

Now here is the part where you may want to have some aftermarket performance add-ons. This is where you enjoy the excitement when you hit the gas pedal. Items such as cat back exhaust systems, headers, cold air intakes, computer chips and even a supercharger. There are a lot of manufacturers that make superchargers that mount directly to you engine and with a little computer programming, and a few items included in the kit, you are whistling down the road. And you can still use it as a daily driver. But you may even think about taking it to the drag strip to see what kind times you can run with it in the quarter mile.

There are a lot of aftermarket auto parts you can purchase and install on your own. A little homework before you start the project and you are good to go. Also a lot of suppliers have detailed instructions on the how to. I find it very satisfying to do the work myself. You get the feeling that you did it all! And it is always a good conversation piece. Although, if you have not attempted anything like this before, I always recommend a professional to do the install.

If you need an idea of where to start or what to do as for aftermarket auto parts, there is an endless amount of tech forums out there for you to explore. Also attend car shows at your local soda shop. Most car show people are willing to share their stories. Go out and get some Mustang aftermarket auto parts today and get going. You can’t go wrong here. Believe me, you will enjoy the benefits of doing so.

Body Kits and Other Car Aftermarket Products for Better Performance and Better Looks of Car

Posted by Lexus Fast | Aftermarket | Wednesday 20 May 2009 8:25 pm

Louie
Body kits are the items that you look for after buying a car. Most of the essential parts are already there when you buy a car, but some have to be added later. Like when you build a house you raise the main structure  first, then you go in for plaster and paint, install adornments and other such items. They are of use and also give a unique look to your house. Same is the case with body kits vis-a-vis your car. They give a distinct appearance to your house or car, but these are not mere cosmetic embellishments, they have a vital role in the main function.

There are parts which are in the interior of a car while items like body kits, projector headlights and tail lights are installed in its exterior. These add to the safety while driving and at the same time would enable you as body kits do to give a look of your choice to the car. These can be installed separately after the purchase of the car.

In the interior of the car there are assemblages like engine, belts, gears, rods, which generate power and transmit it to the wheels. The engine gives power by combustion of  fuel. The fuel efficiency can be enhanced by installing air intakes. These are optional items depending upon whether you will like your car to make as less noise as is practicable, or would be prepared to tolerate some sound to economize on fuel. These are some of after market products or body kits.

Then there are other items that can be added to give you comfort while driving. If you have to travel long distances this aspect cannot be ignored. You will not like to reach looking tired for an important meeting. What are the items that will add to your comfort? The knowledge of suitable car aftermarket products is needed for this purpose.

Thus there are a number of aftermarket products to serve various purposes. Since there number is huge and there may be others of which you are not aware. Selecting and choosing them is a problem. This is further complicated by the fact that for each item there are several designs catering to various tastes. You can visit Ilovebodykits.com for this purpose. It has a wide range of body kits and other car aftermarket products available at a reasonable price. By these you can make your car safe, sound, sturdy, and give it the desired look to project your personality. Your car will be unique to stand out amongst several others.
